McKenzie made friends everywhere in Treviso. Mary, my neighbor had her walk the dogs and everyone knew when Mckenzie was out walking them. I got to know her in fitness and then she taught yoga to many of us at my home. She helped me with some events here and sometimes she would come and just hang out. Not having girls and not having my sons nearby, her infectious energy was a joy and I had some great conversations with her. She will be missed but remembered - a woman like that never is forgotten. God Bless you all.

Honestly, I don't know what to say, so I will keep it short. I loved Kenz with all my heart, we all did. She was beautiful, hilarious, and a ball of energy. We had a lot of fun together, mostly in Marco. We also had a lot of similarities. Somehow, I overcame my issues and I tried to help her do the same. Unfortunately, I couldn't get through to her, none of us could. She was a wonderful person who fought a long, hard battle. It’s hard to believe, but she is now at peace. We love you Kenz and will see you again one day! XOXO.

I had the fortune to know Mackenzie for the past 10 years through some really good times and some really hard times. What I remember most is that she had a fierce determination and incredible compassion, even when she was sick. She wanted to teach the next generation of physicians about what it was like to be a teenager/young adult with a significant chronic illness. She taught them about communication and compassion and made them understand that a patient’s story mattered. She was not to be defined by her disease. I am grateful that I was able to be alongside her, getting to know her, and hopefully getting her story right.

Kenz, Kenzie, Kenzer. So many nicknames that all connotate to her cute innocence. She was always the youngest, and littlest nut of the band of cousins but it never caused her to shy away or back down from any ping pong war or air hockey game - she could always retaliate twice her size. Her rambunctious and uncontrollable nature as a young kid matured into her competitiveness and adventurousness as an adult. She went from painting all the cookies we’d eat after painting (as they weren’t pretty enough to make the Christmas day spread) to taking the prize for co-cookie of the year last year and the cookie of the year prior. Which, ironically, are the two years we’ve made Grammy choose a best & worst cookie of the year. While it likely won’t be my fondest memory, Kenzie definitely loved to tell it and it’ll be one that I’ll always remember because of her fondness for it. For some reason, I got the rights to be the big cousin baby sitter (maybe because the last time Leah was there a puppy lost a nose?). However, I too was a punk, like Kenzer, and quickly got fed up with trying to chase her around the house to either put clothes on, or have her dinner (which was, by her choice, dinosaur egg oatmeal) because I wouldn’t let her have dessert until she finished her oatmeal. Clearly the oatmeal wasn’t sugary enough because she wanted those little Dibs ice cream snacks more than the oatmeal she made me cook. It’s worth noting that at this point in our lives, we didn’t share the passion of baking/cooking that we do now so that bowl of oatmeal was quite a bit of effort on my part. While I’d like to chalk it up to ingenuity, it probably had more selfish motives when I realized I could actually get her to sit still, with clothes on and let me watch cartoons if I gave her a Dib for every certain amount of time she’d remain calm. We ended up having an absolute blast watching TV, eating Dibs, and playing on the couch and trapeze bars in the basement until the parents came home.

Kenzer– what an imp. She called me “Grandpa Cam.” Grrrr. One time in Canada she said, “hey Grampa Cam, come look what’s in the cooler.” I innocently walked over and lifted the lid. The huge snake that was inside absolutely terrified me. Kenzie rolled with laughter. I will never forget that beautiful girl.

I have so many fun memories with Kenzie its impossible to know where to start…adventures in “piggy park” when we were little, her always being nude around the pool in the summer, and spending HOURS tubing in Canada. Our pugs, Ollie and Chloe were also from the same litter- I remember the day Betsy organized a whole litter of pug puppies to come to their house for them to pick a pug (one of which we also got... unplanned) and how excited Kenzie was about her new puppy and playing with the cute little pugs and always having that special bond that our dogs were brother and sister because Kenzie has always felt like a little sister to me. Also, though Kenzie was always an adventurous and wild one, she was also extremely thoughtful and inquisitive. I remember her always asking me questions- whether it was when we were hanging around their pool or out for a jog around Hanover when I was home from high school on breaks- she was always asking questions- a trait wise above her years. Another special memory I have is the Kenz coming over around christmas- for Christmas cookie decorating, movie watching, cross country skiing and just hanging out- spending quality time with people she loved.

It seems like there is a common theme here in all the great memories of Kenzie. She was packed with more energy than should be allowed by law. More talent as well. The memories of the Kenzinator in the gym that was set up in the basement of the house was impressive and she had mastered it all. Her enthusiasm and passion for all aspects of her life are what I will most remember about Kenzie, you will be missed…

My favorite thing about Kenzie was that she never paid attention to age or held herself back by what was expected of her peers. Whether it was waterskiing as a toddler, running wild trying to keep up with her sister and older friends, finding a way (walking, running, before her driver’s license!) to come to our house a few miles away to say “hi”, pursuing passions outside of school, yoga and cooking, she always pushed forward in an autonomous, confident way. That spunk!! As a kid, I loved how she just wouldn’t hear the word “no”. We had so many wonderful summers up in Canada with Kenzie, and I will always think of her and Carly as little sisters.

As many of the stories have already said, if Kenzie made up her mind about something, that was it. One week up in Canada she decided that brushing your hair just wasn’t something that needed to be done. We ended up putting her hair in a pony tail on top of her head that stuck straight up and called her “bam-bam” all week. She wore that hairdo with pride. Another memory I have was in the winter after cross country skiing. We were basically at the end of the ski and just had to get up the small hill to the house. Kenz was exhausted and her skis kept slipping out from under her. This was not her fault though and she began to yell at the skis on why they wouldn’t get her up the hill. We all laughed so hard. Kenzie also absolutely loved to tube behind the boat. If PK was willing to drive, she would have been out there for 10 straight hours. The only thing to get her back in the boat was when she was so cold her teeth were chattering and she was turning blue. At that point she’d commander the boat heater, create a cocoon of towels and 5 minutes later demand to get back out there.

McKenzie was never afraid to try something new, but she held the line at lobster ...until at a backyard picnic two years ago (Cal’s birthday?). She ventured forth and sucked on one of the legs from my plate ...that was it! She collected many carcasses from other plates and went to town ...sucking on lobster legs and tail fins. She was never one to hold back! Wish I had the picture to share!

Kenzie the daredevil. Launching herself off the back of the couch, pulling off a front flip and hurling herself from one tube to the other behind the motor boat in Canada, are two vivid images that come to mind. She is a prankster and a showman. We have a fantastic picture where she managed to find a 4 ft long snake off the dock in Canada and once she had successfully killed the snake, with the help of PK, she decided to wrap the snake around and over her shoulders and wear it around proudly. Needless to say, this act had everyone else squeamish and screaming, but not Kenz, she had on an ear to ear smile, bursting with pride. Kenzie is a “yes” person, filled with spunk and love. We love you sweet Kenz.

We wondered when that little nymph would decide it might be ok to at least put some articles of clothing on … as temperatures plummeted! -Aunt Ellen

In order: Kenzer "marrying" Chauncey (both in preschool) in front of our fireplace in chaps, and not much else; Kenzer (age 6?) climbing to the top of our swingset and walking across the top of the monkey bars while we watched (with much anxiety) from the patio where we were having dinner; On a dare bobbing for oranges, with her former husband, out of our nasty plastic swimming pool. Kenz always brought a spark and a smile to the room...and kept my boys on their toes!

Mackenzie was a constant ray of light and sunshine. From when I first met Kenz until now, she is one of the kindest people I have ever known. Never once was she knocked down by life’s obstacles and perused through every challenge. Growing up playing hockey with her was a gift. She radiated positivity and I was lucky to grow up with her. Although we grew apart, I know that if I ever reached out to her she would be there for me. She has left us all way too soon and I cannot imagine the pain her family is going through. She was so incredibly loved and will always be remembered for her smile and her laugh that filled a room. Sending all of my love and thoughts to each and every one of her family and loved ones.

I am so sorry to hear of Kenzie's passing. Since her switch to St. J I saw her only sporadically, every time I did see Mackenzie in the last few years she always brightened the room. She was a truly sweet person, and she will be missed by many.

I am so sorry and incredibly sad to hear about Kenzie. I worked in the gym at Dartmouth and met her through Cindi Mansell. Kenzie would sometimes join us on our laps around the track. Always with a smile on her face. I know she suffered from anorexia as Cindi often talked with her about it and encouraged her to get help as well as giving positive feedback when Kenzie made a stride forward. I didn’t know Kenzie well but she was a friend to all and you couldn’t help but love her. I know she often brought in things she had made to share. Very loving young woman . Her enthusiasm, her smile and her energy made her a very special young woman. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss and for Kenzie. Gone way too young and much too soon. Sending my most heartfelt condolences to all. Sheila

I feel very honored and blessed to have known Kenzie! A very outgoing, energetic, sweet young lady that touched many lives. I wish I had a picture from the few times we hung out :). My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. PS Harper my dog loved her too as she walked her a few times for me.

We are sending waves of love to you both and to your extended family. We will always remember Mackenzie’s sprightly spirit when she was a girl. Whether on the ice, at a birthday party., the playground or wherever-Mackenzie drew people to her. She was a beaming Duracell bunny of a child and a magnet for fun. All of us McNultys, Neely/Richard/Mason/Braxton, will hold Mackenzie in our hearts. Much love.
